Race The Ranch Kamloops Trip
May 20, 2008Published by 54colton54Friday night Eric Pawuals picked me up and we headed out to kamloops for the first race of B.C cup downhill series. We were really excited to shred some of the local trails and jumps!
After a late night and an early morning in the parking lot of the bike ranch, we geared up for a warm up ride. The downhill course was really fun. The top sections of the race course consisted mainly of off-camber corners with dust berms that were easy to blow right through. The bottom of the course had alot of peddling but all of it was super fun. After riding for a few hours we headed up to a trail called Rio. I would have to say Rio is one of the fastest, funnest, sickest trails I have ever riden! Sunday was race day. I had a pritty good run, although my chain fell off about half way down the course. Luckly durring the flat section it kind of caught back on so I could get a few more pedals before it fell off again. My time ended up being 3minutes and 1second. After racing was all over, Eric and I went down to check out some gap over a canyon. I decided taking run-ups would just scare me so I decided to just rip in and hit it. In the corner before the lip, I slid out a little bit because of the dust, but went for it any ways. In the air i realized i was not going to make it so I jumped off my bike and landed on the other side in the tuck-and-role possistion saftly with my bike doing the same. Then Eric came in and barly case the top and flipped into a tree. Ouch! Monday, the winner of the Race The Ranch Elite class took a bunch of us out to some trails. I dont remember the names of the trails we rode but they were really fun. So the whole weekend was super fun! My bike worked really well, except for the chain falling off. I cant wait until the next race! |
